Parallax Capital Management is a group of Asian-based, Asian-focused investment managers with a unique combination of relevant skills and experience. We are exclusively focused on technology, Asia and on active management of our investments. Our partners each have more than 10 years of investment banking experience at top-tier Wall Street financial services firms, and our relevant experience includes finance, internet and e-commerce, technology and venture investing. We have a proven track record of identifying outperforming assets in our target markets.

Parallax's company vision is to bring the best of East and West together. We combine Western educations and business methods with strong local partners and contacts inside industry and government. Investing in Asia demands an in-depth understanding of Asia and Asian business culture and sensitivities.

 

Douglas Abrams

Mr. Abrams managed information technology at J.P. Morgan for 13 years. From 1997 to 1999, he was Global Markets Head of Internet Marketing, where he developed and executed J.P.Morgan's client Internet and e-commerce strategy, including a first-of-its-kind vertical eCRM system. From 1991 to 1997, he was VP and Manager of Investment Banking Technology (IB), where he was responsible for all aspects of IB technology.

He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore's Entrepreneurship Centre, is on the organizing committees for the Start-Up Singapore, Start-Up Asia and Stanford Global Entrepreneurship Challenge business plan competitions. He also served as a judge in the Lee Kuan Yew Global business plan competition. He is a director of the South East Asia Business Angel Investor Network. Mr. Abrams graduated from the Annenberg School, University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Communications and received an MBA from The Wharton School.

Kevin Cheng

Mr. Cheng joined Parallax Capital Management in 2003 as an Associate. Prior to joining Parallax, he was with Aberdeen Asset Management in London as an analyst with the Global Fixed Income Team.

In 2002 he founded Global Derivatives, an online resource on derivatives pricing models and one of the largest portals for quantitative finance in the world. Mr. Cheng graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from King's College London.

Christopher Franck

Mr. Franck has over sixteen years of relevant business experience in IT and finance industries in Asia.  Mr. Franck began his career in insurance at the Swire Group in Hong Kong in 1990.  From 1993-98 he ran Migg Systems, a Hong Kong based software solutions business for Document Management, Training Management and Data Mining services for compliance to regulatory requirements.

In 1998 he co-founded and subsequently sold xIBA, a Sydney & Singapore based Internet Services firm.  Subsequently, Mr. Franck worked at Reuters Asia where he ran Internet Product Marketing for Asset Management solutions.  Since 2006, Mr. Franck has been a director of DuaAFG M&A Advisors, an India focused M&A Advisory firm in high IP industries.  Mr. Franck earned his BSBA from Georgetown University and completed the AIEP Program at INSEAD in Beijing.

 

Dennis Koo

Mr. Koo was most recently the founder of DK Capital, a brokerage firm in South Korea focused on trading US and Korean equities. He has also been involved in private equity and real estate in Korea.

Mr. Koo began his career in 1997 where he worked for the ADR department at Citibank. In 1998, he joined Heartland Securities as an Equity Trader before joining Leading Investment and Securities in 2002 where he had the responsibilitiy of establishing US equity trading in Korea. Dennis earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from The University of Pennsylvania.

 

Edan Park

Mr. Park was most recently a Managing Director and Partner at Rothschild Emerging Markets/Croesus Capital Management responsible for Local Market Trading and Foreign Exchange and co-manager of the Croesus Emerging Market Income Fund.

Mr. Park began his career in 1986 at Citicorp Investment Bank, New York, where he became Head of Short Term Interest Rate Trading, and one of the youngest vice presidents in the history of Citibank's treasury. In 1993, he joined Lehman Brothers, New York, as Senior Vice President, Foreign Exchange Trading. Before joining Croesus in 1996, he was Senior Vice President, Head of Emerging Market Currency Sales and Trading, and Head of Forward Trading at HSBC, New York. Edan earned his Bachelor of Science degree and his M.B.A. from The Wharton School.

Eugene Park

Mr. Park has been involved in derivative and capital markets activities for the last 14 years in London, Hong Kong, and Singapore. From 1985-1991 he traded interest rate and currency derivatives in London at Manufacturers Hanover and at First Boston, where he managed the USD swap book.

From 1991 until 1999 he set up and managed 3 teams of derivative and capital markets specialists in Hong Kong and Singapore, first as Executive Director for SBCM in Hong Kong, then as Managing Director for Chase in Hong Kong and Paribas in Singapore. Mr. Park has been previously selected by Global Finance magazine as a "Derivatives Superstar" and as an "Emerging Markets Superstar". Mr. Park graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Chemistry and received an M.B.A. from INSEAD in France.
